The Chippewa Cree Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program is committed to providing assistance with encouragement in reaching self-sufficiency while promoting wellness, humility, dignity, and maintaining Chippewa Cree Culture.
Help us to Help you!
Here at the Chippewa Cree Tribe’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program we partner with you to achieve self-sufficiency. The Chippewa Cree Tribal TANF policies emphasize work, promote responsibility and set limits while maintaining the Family Self-Sufficiency Plan for needy TANF Program families. All temporary assistance families must participate in self-sufficiency planning, and able-bodied adults must participate in work activities.
The four purposes of TANF
- Provide assistance to needy families so that children can be cared for in their own homes or in the homes of relatives
- End the dependence of needy parents by promoting job preparation, work, and marriage
- Prevent and reduce the incidence of out-of-wedlock pregnancies
- Encourage the formation and maintenance of two-parent families
